Abortion services are an integral part of total health care. We take pride in offering the finest quality medical care accompanied by an attitude of warmth and respect for the individual needs of the women who come to us for these services.

Curtis Boyd, M.D., P.C. has been providing pregnancy termination services in New Mexico since June 1972, shortly after abortion services were legalized in New Mexico. Dr. Boyd worked closely with Clergy Consultation for Problem Pregnancies, a national organization to provide safe medical abortion and he was one of the first physicians to provide high quality, low cost outpatient procedures. Dr. Boyd was involved in establishing the (http://www.prochoice.org) National Abortion Federation, and is founding member of the Federation's Board of Directors. The Federation serves as a national forum for abortion service providers and others committed to providing quality abortion services so that they may be accessible to all women.

In addition, Dr. Boyd's wife, Glenna Halvorson-Boyd has served on NAF's Board of directors and as the National Abortion Federation's President for two years (1984-1986). The Boyds are both personally and professionally committed to freedom of choice on a local, state, and national level.

Professional Staff Provides Total Service

The office's staff includes physicians (all specialists in abortion procedures), registered nurses, medical assistants, trained counselors and administrative personnel. With a staff of both medical and counseling professionals, there is a strong emphasis on in service training and cross-training to provide a coordinated, team approach to full health care. We feel this meshing of emotional and physical health care is an important aspect of our services.

Philosophy and Policies

The Center maintains the highest standards in providing quality reproductive health care services. Our professional staff is made up of physicians, registered nurses, and degreed counselors who are available to meet both the physical and emotional needs of each woman and her family. We have a staff member on-call twenty four hours, so that we can be available to solve problems during the day or night.

We are proud of the continued improvements we have made in order to provide the best possible service for all women. We have developed several programs to meet the special needs of women in our community.

Policy for Medicaid Patients

Medicaid currently funds medically necessary abortions. Many different situations qualify as medically necessary under the Medicaid regulation. Call our office to find out if you would be a candidate for a Medicaid funded abortion. All Medicaid recipients are eligible for some reduction in fee, regardless of medical necessity.

It is our goal to make sure that each of our patients is treated with personal concern and respect. We want you to receive the best in quality medical care and counseling. If you are unhappy about any aspect of our clinic, we want to know. We will do whatever is necessary, within the scope of good medical judgment, to make sure that you are satisfied with our services. Please ask to speak with the Clinic Coordinator. This person will make every effort to resolve your concerns or problems.
